Logo design, effective, memorable, affordable
The foundation of your brand
Logo design is an essential part of building a successful brand for your business or organisation.
Logos and brands are all around us. To compete in todays market your business needs a brand design that reflects your company values. Your brand needs to sets you apart from your competitors. Your message needs to be clearly communicated and you need to be easily recognised by your customers or clients. A logo and brand are the public face of your business, therefore it’s important to make the right impression.
The Creative Surge approach to logo design
Based on a simple tried and tested design process, which enables the efficient and cost effective creation of the ideal design for each individual client. The result is a memorable logo design that will form the basis of your brand. It will allow you to communicate with your customers in a consistent style, across all media.
Some research is needed before beginning the creative process. I take the time to find out about your business, your target market, your customers, your competitors and how a new logo needs to work for you. All my logos are vector drawn so can be scaled to any size without loss of quality. Finished designs are supplied in a variety of file types ready for print and web use.
Avoid logo design mistakes
What is the single biggest mistake often made with logos?
In my experience it goes something like this;
“We need some new stationery, a letterhead, comp slips and business cards, how quick can you do them? Oh, and can you put some sort of logo together while you are doing it?”
There are many ways to design a logo, but as with many things – you get what you pay for. Avoid both ‘on the cheap’ or ‘we need it yesterday’ approaches when looking for a professional to create new designs.
A successful logo is unlikely to be put together as an after thought to something else, or thrown in for free with another design project. It needs to be considered carefully and afforded the importance it deserves. The benefits of using an experienced logo designer should not be under estimated. You are doing a great disservice to your business by neglecting this vital component.
Vector is everything…
Your new logo may begin life as a few scribbles in a sketch book, but once it gets past the initial concepts stage it is vital that it is created in the right way. All logos should be produced as vector artwork without exception. The final logo design should be supplied to you as original vector artwork, this is the most crucial file and will prove invaluable to you in the future.
Many designers don’t have a background in design for print, they may be experienced entirely in the digital domain; it is not uncommon for them to design logos using pixel based applications and only supply your logo as JPEG and PNG files. This almost always becomes a problem when your business needs anything printed, whether small scale promo items such as pens and mugs, stationery, brochures, or large scale print, exhibition displays and billboards.
Vector artwork can be scaled to any size without loss of quality, it is the master file from which all other file types are created. Make sure your logo is created this way and keep those vector files safe.
